IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor / Advisor Award
Dr. Leedy was awarded the 2013 IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor / Advisor Award in November of 2013 for Region 3 (the region includes all of the Southern U.S. and Jamaica). IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) notes on the IEEE website that winners of this award will be those individuals who, through their work as Counselors and Advisors, exemplify the Institute’s commitment to the educational, personal, professional, and technical development of students in IEEE related fields of interest. The IEEE MGA also notes that there are only approximately 20 outstanding Counselor / Advisor awards given worldwide per year. What really makes this award special is that students submit an essay on why they feel their Branch Counselor has earned the qualifications of “Outstanding Branch Counselor and Advisor” for the year. The students also submit letters of recommendation supporting the nomination.
